Can You Get High From CBD Oil?

These days, just about anybody knows about THC: a natural compound from cannabis, or marijuana, that can make people high if smoked or eaten. CBD, by contrast, is far less well-known. Few people know the full range of possible effect this substance can have on the body. Still, most people know that CBD and THC come from the same plant. And if THC can make you high, could CBD Oil do the same? What exactly does CBD Oil do inside our body? We get many different questions about this relatively unfamiliar cannabinoid CBD: high time to learn more!

The Difference Between CBD And THC

Both THC and CBD are substances found in cannabis plants. Either substance can have a range of different effects on your body and your health. It’s important to notice, however, that the effects of CBD and THC are very, very different!

Cannabis and hemp plants produce hundreds of different cannabinoids. Of these, THC is the most famous one, but CBD and CBD products are rapidly gaining attention. CBD and THC are two different kinds of cannabinoid, both of which influence the receptors of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) located in our brain and the rest of our body. These receptors can respond in various ways.

THC (tetra-hydrocannabinol) activates the CB1 receptors of the ECS. This substance is chiefly known for the psychoactive effects that people experience after smoking or eating cannabis. THC can make people high, producing feelings of euphoria and relaxation, or a state of hyperalert arousal instead.

CBD (cannabidiol) is a cannabinoid found not only in cannabis, but in hemp plants as well. Whereas THC activates the CB1 receptors of the brain, however, CBD blocks these receptors instead. That means you cannot get high from CBD; in fact, CBD even inhibits the effects of THC on the brain. Therefore, taking CBD Oil and THC at the same time would prevent or at least reduce any resulting high!

Why Do People Think That CBD Makes Them High?

As explained above, CBD blocks CB1 receptors in the brain, which rules out the possibility of getting high from CBD Oil. Still, many people confuse the effects of CBD and THC, since they are derived from the same plant. If smoking or eating the resinous buds of a plant, then why would that not apply to all products derived from the same plant species? Even though this may make intuitive sense, its simply incorrect. CBD and THC do indeed come from the same plant species: Cannabis sativa L., i.e., cannabis. CBD, however, can also be drawn from hemp plants; these plants cannot cause any psychoactive effects at all!

Cannabis Or Hemp

Biologically speaking, cannabis and hemp plants fall under the same single plant species. However, two distinct variants of Cannabis sativa L. exist. The difference can be seen in their outward appearance, at least to some extent. Cannabis plants are usually grown for their full flower buds rich in resin glands. These specimens are usually broad-leaved with compact buds or colas. Hemp plants, by contrast, are usually thinner and stretchier, and often much taller than their non-hemp cannabis relatives. In addition, their buds are usually smaller, with less resin covering the flowers. Still, the difference can be hard to tell, so the best way to keep these two variants apart is by looking at how they are used. The main difference between hemp and non-hemp cannabis is the THC content of both kinds. Cannabis sativa L. plants can only be called hemp plants as long as they contain less than .3% THC. That is far too little to cause a high effect. Just for reference: marijuana cannabis available in Dutch coffeeshops contains anywhere between 5 and 25% THC…

Although hemp plants contain nearly no THC whatsoever, they are perfectly suited for deriving the cannabidiol used in CBD supplements. SupMedi Full Spectrum CBD Oil is produced using extracts drawn from industrial hemp, containing all the many cannabinoids the plant produces. That means it also contains minimal traces of THC, but strict analyses in independent laboratories ensure these remain below the legal limit of .3%. This is the best way to retain all of hemp’s natural compounds, allowing you to benefit from the entourage effect caused by interaction between the myriad cannabinoids in our Full Spectrum CBD and CBG Oil. Our CBD Tablets, CBD Gummies, and CBD Edibles are produced using CBD isolates that contain no other cannabinoids than CBD. That way, you can rest assured that our CBD Oil or other CBD supplements will never make you high!

CBD Oil Can’t Make You High, But THC Oil Can!

You now know that CBD products like CBD Oil cannot get you high, even though they come from the same plant that produces THC. Unfortunately, many people still make mistakes while looking for CBD Oil online. We often see how people accidentally look for ‘cannabis oil’, ‘marijuana oil’, or even ‘THC oil’, even though they actually mean CBD Oil instead. You can image how this can cause problems for people who think they cannot get highly from the cannabis oil they ordered. Marijuana, cannabis, and THC oil can definitely contain noticeable levels of THC; in contrast to our CBD Oil, which does not. That means you can safely use our supplement throughout the day, without losing focus!

How Can CBD Oil Promote Your Health?

So is CBD good for you, and can CBD Oil help you stay healthy? As mentioned, CBD cooperates with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) To many people, this an unfamiliar term, even though this system is considered to be every bit as crucial to our own body as our immune system or digestive system, for example. This is because the ECS directs and regulates all sorts of internal systems and processes to maintain a state of homeostasis. Homeostasis is the ability of our own body to protect our health by keeping all of our body functions balanced. That means CBD can help maintain the biological equilibrium we need to stay healthy and in shape!
