CBD Oil for Sleep and Stress Relief for the Active Individual

CBD oil is a popular remedy often used for sleep. Many people struggle with sleep issues, frequently waking up during the night, having difficulty falling asleep, or waking up too early. We all need our sleep to recover and wake up refreshed the next day. CBD can help with various sleep problems.

How does CBD interact with the body?

If you plan to use CBD oil for sleep, it’s good to know how this natural remedy works. You probably know that the human body is a fairly complex system where various processes are happening simultaneously. But what you may not know is that all these processes are regulated by the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).

This system’s job is to maintain balance in the body. It manages numerous processes, like blood pressure, emotions, stress responses, immune system, and the sleep-wake cycle. The ECS communicates with cells through cannabinoids that the body naturally produces, which can instruct a cell to become more or less active.

But CBD is also a cannabinoid. Even though it originates from a plant, the body recognizes it, and CBD can influence the body through the ECS. Sleep is crucial for the health of active people, and fortunately, CBD oil can assist with sleep issues and stress.

CBD and sleep: what does research say?

Research also indicates that CBD can be used for better sleep. Especially if you’re an active person, you’ve been busy during the day with work and perhaps sports. If you can’t recharge at night due to poor sleep, it will start to undermine your energy levels.

In 2019, research was conducted among 103 psychiatric patients with anxiety and sleep problems. All of them received CBD, and after the first month, 80% of the patients experienced less anxiety, which stayed low throughout the rest of the study. The sleep score improved in over 66% of the patients, although it fluctuated over time.

The sleep-wake cycle is a 24-hour biological rhythm, ensuring you feel sleepy in the evening and wake up in the morning. Your body also produces various substances (hormones and neurotransmitters) that ensure this system functions correctly. But it can become disrupted due to illness, stress, and other causes.

CBD can have a positive impact on the sleep cycle. It can promote the production of the substances needed to fall asleep (like melatonin) and other neurotransmitters that help you relax.

Less burdened by stress relief

Stress is one of the main causes of sleep problems. When you’re stressed, you have high levels of cortisol in your blood. This keeps you alert and tense, ready for action. However, this hormone makes it hard for you to relax and unwind.

CBD oil can help reduce anxiety and stress relief. It has an inhibitory effect on the release of cortisol, the stress hormone. Researchers suspect that people suffering from insomnia have too high levels of cortisol at night. If CBD can help lower these levels, it can promote sleep.

But even if you’re anxious, CBD can benefit you, especially before bedtime. It’s common to lie awake for hours, worrying and thinking about everything that happened during the day. CBD not only provides physical relaxation but also mental calm.

Taking CBD before sleep, you can often quickly notice that your thoughts are calming down, the mental chatter stops, and you feel more relaxed. Falling asleep will then be easier, and because you’re less stressed, you sleep more soundly.

How to use CBD oil?

For active, lively people, relaxing and sleeping can sometimes be challenging. The activities of the day won’t leave you alone, and thoughts keep spinning in your head. But sleep, just like a healthy diet, is one of the pillars of good health.

Give your body and mind those few hours they need to recover. The next day will be all the more pleasant, giving you all the energy you need to do the things you love.

CBD promotes relaxation, both physically and mentally, and therefore has a positive effect on sleep. It helps you calm down, allowing you to fall asleep faster and sleep deeper and longer. It reduces stress and anxiety, beneficial not only at night but also during the day.

If you plan to use CBD, see when you benefit most from a dose. To enjoy an uninterrupted night’s sleep, you can take CBD oil or CBD tablets best before sleeping (about 10 to 30 minutes in advance). But if you suffer from anxiety or stress during the day, you can of course also take it during the day.

As for dosage, it is advisable to start low. Take, for example, 3 drops of CBD oil before bedtime and see what effect it has. Keep this up for several days and increase by 1 or 2 drops if you notice insufficient effect.

You can also use our CBD tablets. These contain 30 mg CBD. Start, for example, with half a tablet and see how your body reacts. If necessary, you can later try a full tablet.
